A day at Virginia Legacy

What Tuesday actually looks like

Morning

The house wakes gradually. Breakfast runs for ninety minutes, because people wake differently and nobody is roused to suit a rota.

  1. 7:30am — Morning greetings and breakfast

Breakfast service runs until 9:00am. Nobody is woken to fit a schedule.

  2. 9:00am — Chair exercise and stretching

Fifteen gentle minutes for balance, circulation and joints.

  3. 9:30am — Coffee and the newspaper

Open social time. Conversation, headlines, and no obligation to be anywhere.

  4. 10:45am — Morning programme

Rotating by day: Memory Lane reminiscence, a supervised garden walk, brain games, chair yoga.

  5. 12:00pm — Lunch

The main shared meal of the day, unhurried.

  6. 1:00pm — Quiet time and personal care

Rest, a bath, a phone call home — whatever the afternoon needs to be.

  7. 2:30pm — Afternoon programme

Music therapy, gardening club, arts and crafts, baking, bingo, or a visit from a therapy dog.

  8. 4:00pm — Outdoor time

The deck and garden path, weather permitting. Fresh air is scheduled, not incidental.

  9. 5:30pm — Dinner

Family-style, at a table set for seven.

  10. 6:30pm — Evening, gently

A film, a sing-along, cards. Deliberately low-stimulation as the day winds down.

  11. 8:00pm — Evening snack and settling

Bedtime preparation at each resident's own pace.

Brochures talk about “curated routines.” This is the real shape of the day — the one our staffing, meals and activity plans are built around. Participation is always encouraged and never required.
