Virginia Legacy is an independently owned, nurse-led residential care home for up to six older adults — a more personal alternative to a large assisted living community. The people shaping its care, communication and daily operations are personally involved; there is no distant corporate chain.

Care leadership

Dr. Priyanka Shrestha

PhD, MGS, RN · Senior Clinical Advisor — Geriatric Care & Resident Well-being

Dr. Priyanka Shrestha brings deep expertise in nursing, aging and family caregiving. She is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing and a board-certified gerontological registered nurse whose research focuses on improving the detection and management of delirium in older adults living with dementia.

Her work has contributed to NIH-funded research, peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences. She completed advanced postdoctoral training as a Heather M. Young Postdoctoral Fellow at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at the University of California, Davis.

At Virginia Legacy, Dr. Shrestha provides clinical insight and guidance as a senior advisor. Her expertise helps shape thoughtful, research-informed practices that promote safety, dignity and quality of life, particularly for residents living with cognitive challenges. Licensed operational roles and resident-specific clinical decisions will be assigned in accordance with Virginia requirements before opening.

Alka Pant

M.A./M.B.A. · Marketing, Communications & Community Engagement Consultant

Alka Pant brings more than eight years of experience in strategic communications, social-impact programming and stakeholder engagement across corporate and development sectors.

Her work has focused on community well-being, inclusion and meaningful engagement, including initiatives supporting women, families and underserved communities. That experience informs a compassionate, people-centered approach built on dignity, empathy and trust.

At Virginia Legacy, Alka advises on family communication, community relationships and outreach designed to help residents and families feel informed, connected and supported.

Licensed Administrator

Not yet appointed

Virginia requires a licensed Long-Term Care Administrator, or an administrator-in-training with a documented plan, before a licence is issued. We have not yet appointed ours. When we do, their name and licence number will appear here.

Our philosophy

Personal by design, exceptional in care

Six is a deliberate choice, not the limit of the building. There is no grand lobby here and no sales office, because what a house like this invests in is the people looking after the people who live in it — which is why a caregiver has time to sit down, and why nobody has to explain who they are twice in a week.

  1. Familiar faces, every day

    A small team means residents are not re-introducing themselves to a rotating staff. Familiarity is not an extra for an older adult — it is the thing that lowers anxiety.

  2. Change gets noticed early

    A quieter appetite, a new unsteadiness, difficulty finding words. A small household gives familiar caregivers more opportunities to notice changes in everyday routines.

  3. A More Flexible Approach to Daily Life

    Someone who has woken at 5:30am for sixty years can still wake at 5:30am. A smaller household can make room for lifelong routines instead of asking everyone to follow one institutional timetable.

  4. You talk to the person providing care

    Family questions reach the people who were actually present. Clinical questions are directed to the licensed professional responsible for the resident's plan.

The LLC's owners and managers.

The Senior Clinical Advisor, working within an advisory—not facility-operator—role.
Clinical care, assessment and medication oversight
Appropriately licensed staff appointed before opening, under the licensed Administrator's operational oversight.
Admissions and discharges
The licensed Administrator together with the responsible licensed clinical staff.

Decisions stay close to home

Virginia Legacy is independently owned and operated, with the people responsible for the home directly involved in its operation and care. There is no parent chain, distant corporate office, or third-party management company between families and the people responsible for their experience.

Virginia Legacy is a neighborhood assisted living home serving families across Fairfax, Vienna, Oakton, Burke, Centreville, and nearby communities. We are intentionally local, with a focus on building lasting relationships with residents, families, and the professionals who support them.
